Psalms 74 - Did God Reject Us?
1 A maskil by Asaph.
Why, O God, have you rejected us forever?
Why does your anger
smolder against the sheep in your care?
Psalms 74:1 (GW)
22 Arise, O God!
Fight for your own cause!
Remember how godless fools insult you all day long.
23 Do not forget the shouting of your opponents.
Do not forget the uproar made by those who attack you.
Psalms 74:22-23 (GW)
Reflection of B:
When persecution comes, even Christians may think that God is the one who is punishing them and ask like Asaph, "Why, O God, have you rejected us forever?" (v1). We see injustice around like in the Taleban's terrorism. In times like these, Christians should pray like in v 22,23, asking God to fight these terrorists and rescue His people.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for hearing our prayers and cries to You. At times when situations look bad, help us to continue to trust You and never lose heart. For You will surely rescue us from all situations in Your mighty ways.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
