Psalms 115-116 - God Is Not An Idol
3 Our God is in heaven.
He does whatever he wants.
4 Their idols are made of silver and gold.
They were made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but they cannot speak.
They have eyes, but they cannot see.
6 They have ears, but they cannot hear.
They have noses, but they cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but they cannot feel.
They have feet, but they cannot walk.
They cannot {even} make a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make idols end up like them.
So does everyone who trusts them.
Psalms 115:3-8 (GW)
1 I love the Lord because he hears my voice, my pleas for mercy.
2 I will call on him as long as I live
because he turns his ear toward me.
Psalms 116:1-2 (GW)
Reflection of B:
What a great contrast is the God I believe in and the idols around. Idols have ears but cannot hear, whereas my God hears my voice and pleas. My God sees everything unlike the idols who couldn't.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for hearing my prayers. Though I can't see You, I can experience You, whereas the idols are in reverse. I pray that I shall not make anything or anyone my idol. Only in You shall I trust.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
