My Daily Bible Reading

Surprised by Richard's email recently:

> I notice you haven't posted a daily meditation in a while.
> I know I never visited frequently, but sometimes I found
> something of interest or inspiration.

My reply:

> No. I am still doing it almost daily, as I am following the Bible Reading
> schedule found in the Bible Explorer (BE). I record all my thoughts in the
> document in the BE after each reading. I will post them on the website when
> I can find time to do so.
>
> Thanks for asking.

My Thoughts:

Sometimes I do missed my Bible reading for a few days due to my work. But I will catch up as I have a Bible Reading calendar in the Bible Explorer software. I will be posting my devotion soon over the weekend.

Thank God for friends who care and are concern for me. It's good to know that I may be out of sight but not out of mind. May God be with them always.

Thanks, Richard! :D

Psalms 36 - Mercy and Faithfulness

5 O Lord, your mercy reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Psalms 36:5 (GW)

9 Indeed, the fountain of life is with you.
In your light we see light.
10 Continue to show your mercy to those who know you
and your righteousness to those whose motives are decent.
Psalms 36:9-10 (GW)

Reflection of B:

Who can be as merciful and faithful as God? Even the most compassionate person might find it hard to forgive when he/she is hurt badly by another person. Even the most faithful person would betray the trust of another. Otherwise, we won't be seeing so many broken relationships or marriages. Yes, even those who claim to love another person aren't merciful in the way they treat that someone when the relationship is over. They couldn't stay faithful nor keep their promises.

Yet God is not like man. He is forever merciful and faithful to those who trust in Him. Those whose "motives are decent" or pure will experience God's mercy and faithfulness in their life.

Dear Lord,
Though people close to me may have betrayed and deserted me, yet Your faithfulness never end. Thank You for who You are. Thank You.
In Your wonderful name I praise You. Amen.

Job 19 - Where Are My Friends?

1 Then Job replied {to his friends},
2 “How long will you torment me
and depress me with words?
3 You have insulted me ten times now.
You're not even ashamed of mistreating me.
4 Even if it were true that I've made a mistake without realizing it,
my mistake would affect only me.
5 If you are trying to make yourselves look better than me
by using my disgrace as an argument against me,
6 then I want you to know that God has wronged me
and surrounded me with his net.
7 Indeed, I cry, ‘Help! I'm being attacked!' but I get no response.
I call for help, but there is no justice.
Job 19:1-7 (GW)

Reflection of B:

Job experienced great disappointment with his three friends during his lowest moment in life. He received accusations after accusations that he felt God is punishing him.

Similarly, we may also find ourselves in great sorrows and all our friends deserted us. I felt that way before too. In adversity we know who are our true friends. I believe that God will ultimately be my defender and rescuer from all accusations.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for being with me through thick and thin. When my closed ones deserted me, You were still there with me. I praise You Lord!
I pray that You will guide me in my transitions in life and help me go through each season with courage.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Job 6 - Be Kind To Your Friend

14 “A friend should treat a troubled person kindly, even if he abandons the fear of the Almighty.Job 6:14 (GW)

Reflection of B:

We need to be compassionate towards our friends, especially when they are suffering or in trouble.

A friend of mine has shared something very confidential and personal with me last night. I tried to help by asking many questions in order to understand his problems and to give better advice. However, I probably sounded a little too logical and he felt I wasn't sympathizing with him. I actually did and spent more than 2 hours chatting to see how I might help. Perhaps, I need to learn to be more gentle with my words next time.

Dear Lord,
I pray that You will give me wisdom and a heart of compassion when I deal with those need my help. I pray for this friend of my to come to know You as His Saviour to rescue him from his sins and troubles. I pray You will guide me as to what to say to him again the next time. I commit this friend to Your hand.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
