Proverbs 10-11 - Love Covers All Wrongs

12 Hate starts quarrels,
but love covers every wrong.

13 Wisdom is found on the lips of a person who has understanding,
but a rod is for the back of one without sense.

14 Those who are wise store up knowledge,
but the mouth of a stubborn fool invites ruin.
Prov 10:12-14 (GW)

30 The fruit of a righteous person is a tree of life,
and a winner of souls is wise.
Prov 11:30 (GW)

Reflection of B:

What someone did recently made me feel very sad and hurt. I just wondered how a person could be so insensitive and mean, especially from someone whom I have cared for before. I felt very angry and felt the urge to show others what kind of person he is. I know I have to leave vengeance to God and not take things int my own hands, yet I still felt the unrest in my heart and it almost turned into hatred.... I didn't feel such strong feeling before.

However, in my Bible reading today (belated one), I came across Proverbs 10:12:

"Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs."

This verse came to me on time (though it was behind my reading schedule). Well God's timing is always perfect, though ours aren't. This verse reminded me that I should let love reigns in my heart and not take revenge. I should give life to someone instead of bringing death by my actions even if I have been hurt. I need God's help to keep my peace, keep my cool, and don't react. I need to let God's love covers the wrongs that were done to me.

Dear Lord,
You are always on time, though I may be behind time. Thank You for speaking to my heart today. I want to surrender all the hurts I felt to You. May Your love reigns an let it covers all wrongs that were done to me. I need You to hold me tight again. Please don't let me slip away.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Psalms 41 - When My Closest Friend Leaves

4 I said, “O Lord, have pity on me!
Heal my soul because I have sinned against you.”
Psalms 41:4 (GW)

9 Even my closest friend whom I trusted,
the one who ate my bread,
has lifted his heel against me.
10 Have pity on me, O Lord!
Raise me up so that I can pay them back
Psalms 41:9-10 (GW)

Reflection of B:

It can be very painful when our "closest friend" whom we trusted come against us or leave us. That's why King David cried out to God to have pity on him. This Psalm reminds me of the hurtful feeling I had when my best friend deserted me.

Thank God that in time like this, Christians can cry out to God and have the assurance that God will hear them and heal their pains. Yes, God healed all my hurts and helped me move on as I gave all my pains to Him.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for soothing all my pains when I cried to You. You have turned my mourning into dancing and filled my heart with joy. I have learned that in giving up what I hold dear and give it to You, You will grant me something more than what people can give. I thank You for all Your works in my life.
In Jesus' name I praise You. Amen.

Job 4 &5 - Accused by a Friend

1 Then Eliphaz from Teman replied {to Job},
2 “If someone tries to talk to you, will you become impatient? But who can keep from talking? 3 Certainly, you have instructed many people: When hands were weak, you made them strong. 4 When someone stumbled, you lifted him up with your words. When knees were weak, you gave them strength. 5 But trouble comes to you, and you're impatient. It touches you, and you panic. 6 Doesn't your fear of God give you confidence and your lifetime of integrity give you hope?

Job 4:1-6 (GW)

Reflection of B:

Noting is more discouraging and hurtful than being questioned and doubted by our close friends or people whom we have helped before, when we are down and sick. Such was the case with Job (Job 4).

Not only that, Job's friend, Eliphaz, further accused him of not looking towards God for help (Job 5).

We need to learn that not all bad things that happened to someone are due to his/her sins. We need to be sympathetic instead of pointing an accusing finger.

Dear Lord,
I pray that I will not be like Job's friend in accusing anyone who is already suffering. Let me not be too quick to judge others but to pray for them instead.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Job 3 - Wish I Were Not Born

1After all this, Job {finally} opened his mouth and cursed the day he was born.

Job 3:1 (GW)

Reflection of B:

That was exactly what I did when I was a child... I wished I were never born. As an adult, I also had such feeling in many occasions when I felt extremely hurt by people close to me. Yet I never curse God as I remembered what Job did.

In extreme sorrows, we tend to ask many questions and wish to die. Satan will torment us mentally too. Thank God that He sees our every sadness and He will always come to our rescue when sorrows overwhelmed us. That's what He did to me many times. Praise Him!

Dear Lord,

Thank You that You have a purpose for me to be born, though in my sorrows I foolishly wished I were not born. You knew me even when I was in my mother's womb. Though she may not love me, yet I know You love me dearly. May I help someone else to know this good news about Your love.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
