Psalms 43 and 44 - We Never Forget You

5 Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.
Psalms 43:5 (GW)

17 Although all of this happened to us,
we never forgot you.
We never ignored your promise.
18 Our hearts never turned away.
Our feet never left your path.
Psalms 44:17-18 (GW)

Reflection of B:

Psalms 43:5 is a repeat of Psalms 42:5,11 where King David talked to himself. When we are discouraged, we should be like David and asked ourselves what is the root of our discouragement and remind ourselves to trust in God and praise Him in all situations. In this way we will not be overcome by sorrows.

Even though many bad things happened to David that caused him to question God, yet he never forget Him or turn away from Him. He passed the tests set for him and was called the man after God's own heart. Likewise, we need to be strong and have faith in God in all situations.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for keeping me with You through all my sufferings and trials. Thank You for all the bible men and women of faith whom I can learn from their examples. When I am discouraged, Your words always lift me up and help me hope in You again.
Praise You! Amen.

Job 30 - Be Honest With God

15 Jul 07
20 “I call to you for help,
but you don't answer me.
I stand up, but you just look at me.
Job 30:20 (GW)

31 So my lyre is used for mourning
and my flute for loud weeping.
Job 30:31 (GW)

Reflection of B:

As Job went through his sufferings and wondered if God was still with him. He honestly question God.

That will be true for us too if we were to suffer like Job did. We may wonder and become doubtful at times. That's just being human and natural. Thank God that He is One whom we can be honest about our feelings.

Dear Lord,
It's nothing wrong in being honest with You about our sufferings and doubts. You know how we feel even before we utter any words. Thank You that we don't have to be 'tough' before You but be ourselves. For You despise us not.
Thank You in Jesus' name. Amen.

Job 24 and Job 25 Don't Be Quick To Speak

1 “Why doesn't the Almighty set aside times {for punishment}?
Why don't those who are close to him see his days {of judgment}?
Job 24:1 (GW)

Reflection of B:

Job continued to wonder why the wicked prosper and Bildad continued to reply without actually answering Job's questions.

It can be quite frustrating when someone tried to 'counsel' us without helping in anyway. It will be seen as being arrogant and insensitive.

Dear Lord,
Teach me to be humble and offer my listening ears, instead of being too quick to give advices. Give me wisdom to speak the right words at the right time.
In Your mighty name I pray. Amen.
